Anne Geddes

Children are the living messages we send to a time we will not see

Pure

Singlet Series

According to Anne,  A Singlet is the very first thing every woman down under in Australia and New Zealand purchases the moment she finds out she is pregnant and a must-have for newborns. The Anne Gedde's Singlet is a super-soft, 100% natural-fibre baby undergarment that is part of Anne’s new pure layette collection.

Steve McCurry

In December 1984, Afghanistan was five years into a bloody civil war between the Soviet Union, which sought to maintain a Marxist government there, and anti-government Islamic rebels called mujahideen.
Millions of refugees were pouring over the borders into Pakistan to escape the fighting.
National Geographic photographer Steve McCurry was in the region for a story on the refugee crisis. While touring a refugee camp on the Afghanistan-Pakistan border, he entered a large tent that served as a girls school. The first child he saw was a shy girl with fiery eyes, about 12 years old.
McCurry approached the girl, and she agreed to let him take her picture.
"I didn't think the photograph of the girl would be different from anything else I shot that day," he later recalled.
What emerged was a searingly beautiful image of a young girl with haunting eyes who came to symbolize the plight and the pain and the strength of her people.

Pete Dobre

Pete Dobre is not only a photographer, but an enthusiast. The passion he has for photography not only reflects his work but also the people around him. His enthusiasm is infectious; he supports not only adults with their photography but encourages the young in ways not imaginable. Pete is an inspiration to everyone he meets.

He believes that nothing is perfect, and has incorporated this in some of his photography. Pete spent 15 years teaching then decided to follow his dreams and become a Photographer, which he’s now been for 18 ½ years.

Pete is inspired by the ‘awesome skies’ and God. He lives by Psalm 19:1; “The heavens declare the glory of God. The skies proclaim the work of his hands.” He lives by this verse as he chases skies, light and special places that God has created.

The main elements used throughout his work are ‘awesome skies’. He believes without the skies; “the landscape would be boring and un-interesting.” He breaks every rule within photography, by not following ‘composition’ or rules. Pete chases light and skies, to capture that special ‘moment in time’ which God has created. He also loves ‘Old Cars’, ‘Seascapes’, and ‘Old Buildings’. His photographs have simple composition with strong contrast.

Lake Eyre

The simplicity and the contrast of colours are what makes this photo; the blue sky and the grey foreground. The foreground is light and creates texture with the salt peeling and cracking. There is no particular composition to this photograph apart from the symmetry, although your eye is drawn into the middle of the photograph by the bright cloud, sweeping into the centre. This picture is just another example of Pete’s ‘awesome’ skies and strong contrast of colours. The horizon placement does not seem to be straight, but seems to be purposely done as the clouds in the distance create a grey – white colour which matches the foreground of salt which creates the un-even look.

A Vineyard in South Australia

The variations of colours and strong contrast make this an interesting composition. The foreground in this picture creates ‘leading lines’ as the angle of the vines draw your eye into the centre of the photo. Even the clouds seem to be creating the ‘sweeping’ effect, which adds to the leading lines. The contrast of colours is what I think makes the photo, as it seems like the sun is shining on the vines which are further away creating an orangey colour, which complements the two shades of sky (ultramarine and cobalt blue). Pete has used a special filter or different lenses to create the bright contrast of colours with the sky, vines, clouds and ground

Port Campbell National Park

This picture is ‘creating a moment in time’. The foreground in this picture draws your eye to the central focal point of the photo, along with the first wave which is lined at the corner of the central rock and the rock in the foreground on the left. The tone and light affects the contrast of colours. This photo was obviously taken at dusk, therefore the light is minimal which creates a dark foreground, but the most wonderful subtle pinks and salmons in the background. But the pinky orange colour of sunlight complements the dark blue water and golden rocks in the foreground. The strata lines in the right rock also lead your eye towards the central rock. The Texture of rocks, gentle ripple in the sea and the smooth sky is what makes this photo so amazing.

Old Ruins

"For those that know me, they will recall I started my whole interest in photography through shooting old ruins and I have been doing that since I was  a young fella. When driving around  in my travels, if I come across one and there is an amazing sky, i will stop and shoot it. I find the old ruins very emotive. Once again, Ill nearly always have the sky as my focus as i want to show people how small we are against an awesome and inspiring sky and there are no words for me that can best describe what i feel when shooting awesomeskies against the backdrop of the old ruins that scatter own landscape."

Outback Roads

"What I love about the Outback are the roads and tracks that appear to be an endless trail of dirt which I just love. Have you ever been out there, stopped your car and then have stood in the middle of the track and hear the sounds that are around you. I’ts inspiring if you stand and listen. At first you may think that there is nothing to listen to, but stand longer and you will hear lovely sounds."
